A while back we heard word that a group of enthusiastic filmmakers were finally getting down to work on a feature-length CG-animated Smurfs movie. Well, it sure looks like some ample progress has been made on the Paramount / Nickelodeon project. The flick is penciled in for a late-2008 release, and now we've received our very first look at some production artwork!
ComingSoon.net has collected all the smurfy goodies into one handy page, so click right here to take a look at some new stills and a brief video clip. The Smurfs is being directed by Colin Brady, and since he has credits on titles like E.T., Toy Story 2, and Hulk, I'm feeling a little more optimistic about this movie. I'm not exactly a huge fan of Peyo's little blue buggers, but they do seem like a perfect fit for a family flick. Here's hoping the movie holds up under fanboy (and fangirl) scrutiny.
New Keira Knightley Publicity Stills from 'Pirates 3'
Filed under: Action », Johnny Depp »
If I were to be a female pirate I would want to look exactly like Keira Knightley. Dirty enough not to look homeless, long flowing hair while wearing decadently embroidered garments and comfortably wielding a heavy sword twice my size. IESB has just posted nearly 80 photos of the previously described look from the newest Disney installment of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End.The previous two films received wild success; Oscar nods for Johnny Depp in Curse of the Black Pearl, and Dead Man's Chest scored over a million dollars more in box office sales than the first. The sequel literally blew the competition out of the water; no wonder Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney pictures spent $225 million on yet another summer release for the big-budgeted pirate adventure.
The photos show that Knightley is more hands-on in the fighting than ever. The plot sends Jack Sparrow (Depp), Will (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth (Knightley) on one last voyage to fight against their ultimate enemies, including Davy Jones. To win this battle they must contact the Pirate Lords to help them fight against their foes that wish to rid them from roaming the seas ... forever. An action packed plot and promising promotional stills equals what could perhaps be a successful end to the Pirates of the Caribbean movie empire (though chances are we'll see at least three more). We'll know for sure when it opens in a month from now on May 25.
