Top 10 Stormtrooper Crossovers
Filed under: Sci-Fi & Fantasy », Fandom », Comic/Superhero/Geek », Lists », Other Festivals », ComicCon », WonderCon », Fan Made »

Galactic Binder has collected ten of the best stormtrooper crossovers they've seen. Seeing so many gathered in one place suggests that costumed Stormtroopers are becoming so ubiquitous that they'll soon attract as little attention as a plain Stormtrooper. Hell, maybe ordinary troopers will become so rare that spotting one will be like seeing a unicorn in the wild ...
So, check out the gallery below, and tell us your favorite. I'll echo Galactic Binder and give a special gold star to the samurai stormtrooper for going full circle by referencing Kurosawa.

Meanwhile, Marvel announced plans to sell digital "in motion" comic books via iTunes, akin to what Warner Bros and DC have been doing with Watchmen. Panels will have animated scenes and dialogue spoken by voice actors. Brian Michael Bendis was excited about it, which makes me feel like a female Walt Kowalski for grumbling that it's a death knell for literacy. (I mean, really -- when it comes to reading, you can't get any easier than comic books ... why not just abandon comics for cartoons if you're going to go that far? Now get off my lawn!)
Fan Rant: The Post Comic Con Bitching

The dust has barely settled in San Diego (they're probably still trying to clean up that convention center as we speak), and already, the bitching begins. The Hollywood Reporter has written a delightful piece of snark in which the big studios whine that they're spending too much time and money on us geeks. Apparently, it just doesn't pay to court us because the movies cheered in Hall H (Grindhouse, Snakes on a Plane, and Speed Racer to name a few) just don't do all that well. What a waste of free t-shirts and pins!I'm not going to sit here and insist that ComicCon can make or break a movie. I think we all know there are movies that have benefited from the buzz that begins in San Diego -- people wouldn't be whispering ominously about Star Trek skipping it otherwise. Look at X-Men Origins: Wolverine -- a film that people had been pretty skeptical about is now being raved about from one corner of the Internet to the other. Look at The Spirit. The bad buzz that began at con will stick to the film until its Christmas release. But I also know that those of us who live and work on the Internet can become deluded as to what the offline world is buzzing about. I will fully expect people to comment on my "Who watches the Watchmen?" shirt when I wear it around Colorado, and no one will, because it's so far off the radar for most people.
SDCC Panel: Disney's 'Escape to Witch Mountain' and 'Tron 2'

-- Race is not a sequel or a remake, but a re-imagining. They went back to the original book for inspiration, and tried to incorporate everything, but while writing a new mythology.
-- All were huge fans of the original, which drew them to the project. Johnson is particularly fond of Disney projects due to his young daughter, Gugino jumped at the chance to do a departure from the original.
-- Delving deeply into the UFO movement, essentially a UFO story.
-- More action packed to keep with the book, and also to keep up with the likes of the Harry Potter movies. Fans of the original will find Winnebagos to delight them, new fans won't have to have seen the old ones to get the story.
-- Gugino plays a "discredited astrophysicist" and Johnson a cab driver. The kids are aliens. Much ass is kicked by all the characters.
-- The original kids, Kim Richards and Ike Eisenmann, are in it. People went absolutely crazy at this, and it's hinted their part is large, but no other details were forthcoming.
-- Fickman said the closest comparison to the movie was 48 Hrs or the Bourne movies. Seriously.
Tron is back ... and after the jump ...
Full ComicCon Schedule Released!

As one of our commenters recently pointed out, this year's ComicCon is "going to better than ever." And, based on this newly released schedule of events, it's looking like that might just be the case. When we last brought word on the ComicCon schedule, it was still up in the air whether Indiana Jones 4 would have a presence there. Well fear not fedora fans, it looks like Indy will be there in some capacity. Apart from Indy IV, Paramount, Dreamworks and Nickelodeon will present a "one-of-a-kind presentation" that will feature films like Beowulf, The Spiderwick Chronicles, Stardust, Hot Rod, Iron Man and Star Trek XI. On hand to answer questions in person will be J.J. Abrams, Robert Downey Jr., Jon Favreau, Neil Gaiman, Roger Avary and SNL's Andy Samberg. Since no one from the Indy camp will be there in person (at least not according to this list), I'm curious to see what they'll be presenting. Will it be a teaser poster? More photos from the set? One thing is for sure -- Cinematical will tell you exactly what it is when we, along with tons and tons of other fanboys, invade San Diego ComicCon later this month.
But what about the other studios, Erik? Well, Lionsgate will do a special Good Luck Chuck presentation with Dane Cook, Jessica Alba, Dan Fogler and director Mark Helfrich on hand to personally guide you through their upcoming comedy. Alba will then move onto a promotion for The Eye remake (in which she also stars), Clive Barker will show up with the cast of Midnight Meat Train to ... serve up some midnight meat, I assume, and Darrren Lynn Bousman and Tobin Bell will "invite you to play a game in the cruel and deadly world of Jigsaw." Additionally, Warner Bros. will also be on hand promoting Speed Racer, Get Smart, The Invasion, Whiteout, One Missed Call, Trick 'R Treat and Watchmen (with Zack Snyder in attendance, presumably to announce further casting). 20th Century Fox will present stuff on Jumper, Aliens vs. Predator, Hitman, Babylon A.D., The Dark is Rising and City of Ember (with Gil Kenan in attendance not in attendance, we've been told by Fox -- he's too busy on set to attend). There's loads of other goodies as well, but I just don't have the time or the space to tell you about it all. After the jump, I've included more than a few highlights -- but head on over to the official site to see it in full. ComicCon will take San Diego by storm from July 26-29.
