Randy the Tennis Coach

After briefly visiting some dramatic territory in films like Brokeback Mountain and the upcoming Goya's Ghost, Randy Quaid might be returning to the type of flick we're used to seeing him in: a moronic comedy. The actor is in final negotiations to star alongside Sean William Scott (that name should immediately signal your moron alert) in the indie comedy Gary the Tennis Coach. And yes, Quaid would play Gary.

Danny Leiner, who teamed with Scott on Dude Where's My Car? and also directed the surprisingly hilarious Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, will take over helming duties on the pic. Newbie scribes Andy Stock and Rick Stempson penned the script. As with most sports comedies, story revolves around a high school janitor-turned-tennis coach who's placed in charge of teaching a group of lovable misfits how to play the game, eventually guiding the team toward the Nebraska state championship. While the film sounds fun, I'm just dying to see Quaid take on the role of King Carlos IV in Goya's Ghost. Interesting territory for a guy who played the disgustingly vulgar Cousin Eddie in all those Vacation movies.

Seann William Scott is Big Brother

While we haven't seen much of him lately (except for a vocal appearance in Ice Age 2: The Meltdown), Seann William Scott is looking to explode within the next couple years, what with eight films currently in different stages of production. Although I've never found him appealing as an actor (if there was an anti-Seann William Scott fanclub, chances are I'd be a member), Hollywood apparently loves this guy's shtick.

Case in point: Production Weekly reports the dude is in talks to star in Big Brother (which IMDB lists as Big Brothers), an edgy comedy to be directed by Luke Greenfield. Pic is said to revolve around a "selfish businessman who's forced to participate in the Big Brother program and is paired with a tough teen." As you can imagine the two initially butt heads, though later become friends after our shady hero teaches his new apprentice about all of the immoral things he used to climb the corporate ladder. Big Brother hopes to begin production in January.

Hazzard Sequel Heads Straight to DVD

Even with its three main stars bailing on the franchise as if it were infected with a career-ending disease, The Dukes of Hazzard will indeed be returning ... to a much smaller screen. However, instead of a traditional sequel, it appears as if they're going with a prequel for their sequel. Yee-haw!  According to Cinema Blend, the casting notice for the film also lists it as "straight to DVD."

So, will we find them Duke boys strutting around in diapers? Almost. The plot for the film is said to focus on the boys as teenagers, while we follow them through their first wild confrontations with Boss Hogg. There's something in there about Uncle Jesse and the origins of Daisy's dukes but, in the end, does anyone really care what this movie will be about? As Martha stated previously, Johnny Knoxville, Sean William Scott, Burt Reynolds and Jessica Simpson will have nothing to do with the prequel. Such a shame, seeing as the first one was just so entertaining. Oh well, perhaps Jessica wants to move onto bigger and better things. Either that, or she's just swapping out the Dukes for a bathing suit.
