Just when you thought you've seen it all (how many times have I started out a post with that?), here comes Silence of the Lambs as a Lego musical! Never has the line "Put the f**king lotion in the basket" sounded so ... sing-songy. If this isn't the greatest piece of viral video you watch today, then you totally deserve to get the hose again. The animation for this was done by Peter Levin, and the original music and lyrics are from Jon and Al Kaplan, who actually pieced together nine full tracks for what they call Silence! -- some of which were created for a performance at the Fringe Festival. (And I realize this video may be a little old, but I've never seen it and if you have, well, watch the damn thing again -- it's that funny.)
Let's see ... aside from Put the F**king Lotion in the Basket, there's I'd F*ck Me, Are You About a Size 14, Silence of the Lambs, Quid Pro Quo and more. Find out more about the musical and listen to all nine tracks over here. This is hilarious. Anyway, watch it below -- but be warned there's foul language and the video is definitely NSFW.
Scorsese Wants Silence! ...with Daniel Day-Lewis and Benicio Del Toro

I was beginning to think that Martin Scorsese was on a merry-go-round of music and organized mayhem, since he's been quite busy balancing crime with big-screen concert-going. But just as it looks like he's in a rut, Scorsese throws us something from left field. Well, not quite left field since we heard about it back in 2006, but close enough.Variety reports that he's "determined" to make Silence next. Based on the Japanese novel, the film will follow a few Jesuit priests who head to Japan in the name of Christianity, only to discover that converts are being persecuted in defiance of Western influence. Marty has been sitting on this sucker for eons (he wrote a script of the Japanese novel ten years ago), and was set to film it in Vancouver in 2007. But now it's headed to New Zealand (Canada, sheep land, same difference?!), and Marty is negotiating with Daniel Day-Lewis and Benicio Del Toro to star, with Gael Garcia Bernal also entering talks.
I've been itching to see what he'd make of The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt, but you can't blame a guy for getting a decade-old project into gear, especially when you've got Daniel and Benicio ready to star. But will it still have "implications related to the war in Iraq"? And how will he fare on "Japanese" turf?
Scorsese Looks to Adapt Japanese Novel

First he visited Hong Kong to remake the film Infernal Affairs, which is now set in Boston and called The Departed (opening October 6 nationwide). Now, it appears Martin Scorsese has chosen his next film; an adaptation of the Japanese novel Silence. Scorsese originally wrote a first draft of the script (with Jay Cocks) a decade ago and planned to shoot the pic immediately following Gangs of New York. However, he ultimately decided to stick The Departed in between the two.
At this time, we're not sure what he plans to do with it, but according to Production Weekly the story is "set in sixteenth century Japan, where Portuguese missionaries must contend with traders from rival European nations and the persecution of Christians by Japanese feudal lords." Oh, and did I mention Scorsese plans to shoot this in Vancouver next summer? Yes, f**kin Vancouver. I was somewhat underwhelmed by Scorsese's trip back in time for Gangs on New York, though I absolutely loved The Departed. This sets my intrigue level rather high, and I'm definitely curious to see where he goes with it. I also wonder if Silence will indeed be one of the director's last efforts for Hollywood, as Martha pondered wayyy back last November.
Wan & Whannell Present The Movie With No Title

What with all the Saw sequels that seem to pop up every Halloween, we might have forgotten to ask, hey, what's the original Sawmaker up to these days? Well, the guy's been working on his follow-up fright flick for quite some time now -- only nobody seems to know what to call the thing!Directed by James Wan and written by Wan and Leigh Whannell, the flick was originally meant to be called Shhhh, but then everyone realized how silly that was, and it was agreed that Silence would be the new title. And then it got changed to Dead Silence. And now, for whatever reason, that's no good either.
As mentioned at Dread Central, the trailer for Mr. Wan's sophomore effort is supposed to be showing in front of Saw 3, so it's in everyone's best interest to settle on a name already. How about The Unnamable or The Un-Entitled?
