Trailer for 'Species IV' Online -- "It's Mating Season!"

A new trailer for what appears to be a direct-to-DVD version of Species IV (or, as they're calling it, Species Quattro -- because apparently the film is that much scarier when the Spanish language is introduced) has just arrived online. And maybe I'm the only one, but I can't believe this franchise is still lingering around. The very hot Natasha Henstridge starred in the original back in 1995, and managed to hang around through the sequel before bailing out. Now, a new girl (Helena Mattsson) has taken over just in time for mating season. And you know what that means --- a bunch of guys who thought they were scoring with an unbelievably hot babe get a whole lot more than they bargained for.
The time around, our blonde bombshell finds out that she's half alien, half human, and in an attempt to find some sort of cure, she travels with her uncle (Ben Cross) down to Mexico. (Ah, so that's where the Spanish title comes into play!) The trailer itself looks pretty cool; lots of fast cuts, alien invasion-type stuff. She's looking to plant that seed, and I'm sure there are plenty of guys willing to take one for the team. No word yet on a release date, but since Species III premiered on the Sci-Fi network, chances are that will be the first place to find it.
Here Comes Species 4!

I bet that, until Scott's disturbing/enlightening sequel post a few weeks ago, you didn't even know there was a Species III -- shame on you! Sure, the thing went straight to DVD, but how do you think poor Brad Turner, who directed the thing, feels about your lack of respect? (Actually, since he directed basically every 24 episode this year -- not to mention a ton of Stargate stuff -- he's probably not too bothered. Never mind.) Well, your (and my) ignorance of the project notwithstanding, the DVD made over $11 million in the US alone, so it's really no surprise that, yes, there's another one on the way. Written by Ben Ripley -- the brilliant mind behind installment three -- and directed by Nick Lyon, Species IV will start filming in October in Mexico City. You probably won't believe this, but the plot revolves around a hot woman who's part alien getting angry, and wreaking blood havoc on all the asses she can find. Sweet, right? Hey, at least you know what you're getting into with these -- there's no risk you'll see a Species movie with, like, lots of healthy puppies, and government agents who live to see old age.
