Coolest 'Star Wars' Toys Ever!

While surfing the internets today, I came across these really cool Star Wars toys that were recently pimped out at the CES Conference in Las Vegas. I first caught wind of them via this post over at Slashfilm, and then I headed over to our sister site Engadget figuring they'd have a gallery or seven featuring tons of different looks at the toys themselves. And whaddya know -- they do! Not only do they have a gallery, but they also have video from CES with a guy showing off a lightsaber/Skype phone and a remote control R2-D2 that, from what I gather, can roll around the house snapping photos.
The photo above is a Millennium Falcon remote control that's used to operate the DVD/CD player housed inside an R2-D2 projector (photo after the jump). Nikkio Electronics is putting this stuff out for sale in March, however the remote and R2-D2 projector will come with a pretty hefty price tag of $2,700. Damn. Yeah, not exactly the perfect stocking stuffer for you casual fans, but definitely the kind of toy you hardcore fanboys might want to save up for. Ideally, this sort of stuff would be perfect for a screening room of some kind, and while I have a ton of Star Wars fanatics as friends, none of them are rich and, therefore, I can't see any of them splurging for this. But if you do get it, let us know how it works.

What would you get if the Millennium Falcon and Optimus Prime played a mighty game of chicken at top speed, and no one flinched? You may not have ever pondered that question, but Hasbro apparently has, and they've provided us with the answer. You'd get Star Wars Transformers, of course! How, might you ask, would Star Wars characters transform? Well you see, they start by wearing enormous and slightly bulky mech suits, similar to what you'd see in your average run of the mill robot anime. Star Wars is a highly advanced technological place, after all, so that's not too much of a stretch I suppose. Then they transform in true Robots in Disguise style, becoming ... well ... half of the Millennium Falcon, anyway. When you put the two together, you get a complete Falcon, so I suppose technically it's more akin to Voltron than Transformers, but hey, I'm not the guy doing the marketing. If you swing over here, you can also check out some Jango Fett and Darth Maul Transformer action figures, as well. Not something I'd actually be interested in buying, but I suppose somebody might. The overwhelming 80s geek power of it ought to count for something among toy collectors, anyway.Star Wars Done By Action Figures

Star Wars has inspired more crazy fan acts than probably any other movie (or franchise) in all of cinema history. People have practically devoted their entire lives to the film. Rabid collectors have entire houses full of memorabilia, can recite the entire trilogy backwards, and recreate scenes from the film in action-figure glory with remarkable attention to detail. Yes, you read that right, although I bet it doesn't even surprise you a bit.
Over at the glorious media gluttony website that is YouTube, a dedicated fan has assembled a solid four minute clip entirely recreating the carbon freezing chamber sequence from Empire. It's cheesy, it's campy, and it is absolutely beautiful. The lighting is great, the ambiance is solid, and the recreation is lovingly crafted. Not only that, this particular clip includes one of my favorite dialog exchanges in the entire trilogy (isn't it odd how the dialog quality deteriorated between trilogies?) -- Leia declaring her love for Han and Han replying with "I know." Classic, even when done with plastic Hasbro and Kenner figures. According to the creator, this clip is only the beginning; a small preview of his master plan to recreate the entire film in action figure. Where would the world be without Star Wars addicts?
