Our brothers and sisters over at TV Squad have busted through the boob tube and brought with them the following juicy bits of must-see eye candy:

• The cast of The Family Guy has booked two nights at Carnegie Hall, where they'll perform two uncensored episodes and a few different musical numbers. We've seen them on stage before (the month before they returned to Fox), and we certainly recommend for anyone who's a fan.
• Win a copy of Back to You -- Season One on DVD or, alternatively, a copy of That '70s Show - The Complete Series Stash box set.
  
• From the Nah, Really? department: Paramount is pretty upset over the fact they weren't warned about that South Park episode featuring Indiana Jones being raped (literally) by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas. Viacom, Paramount, Comedy Central -- it's just another dysfunctional family.
• Here are five shows Sarah Palin should appear on, other than Saturday Night Live.
• After previously canceling and causing quite the uproar, John McCain has decided to appear on Late Night with David Letterman this Thursday.

Chalk this one up as something that should have happened 7 seasons ago: The Simpsons are finally making a movie. Okay, so maybe we've known that for awhile now, but nothing has ever felt concrete, at least to me. I remember hearing that a possible film would involve Bart losing his virginity, and that idea circled its way around the world, only to see nor hear anything more.

Harry Shearer, who voices Rev. Lovejoy, Ned Flanders and a bunch more Springfield nutjobs, was a guest on the Mancow radio show and spilled a tiny portion of the beans when asked about a Simpsons movie. First off, he confirmed the 2-year contract extension for the television show (which will put them at roughly 1000 seasons) and said that the extension will not delay the movie as the actors are already laying down dialogue.

As far as story goes, he gave nothing up but said it will be more edgy - but not R-rated edgy. Also, there would be swearing in the movie, but not from his characters. Damn, and here I was really hoping Flanders would drop at least one F-bomb. There was no word on whether the movie would go The Family Guy route and travel straight to DVD or follow South Park to the big screen, but regardless (and I know the fans have to be with me on this), I feel it's all coming a bit too late.

 

While a comedy about corrupt sports officials might hit a little too close to home for soccer fans pretty much anywhere, or anyone who witnessed Bob Davidson's recent "work" in the World Baseball Classic, New Line is hoping that most of us will find the idea hilarious. To that end, they've bought The Refs, a creatively-named spec comedy by Michael Barker, Matthew Weitzman, and Chris McKenna (that's right, three writers - the movie's just THAT big) about "underappreciated NFL referees" who decide to get back at the world by fixing the Super Bowl. Or, at the very least, screwing it up a lot.

New Line has handed the project to The Longest Yard and Tommy Boy helmer Peter Segal, who will co-produce and is likely to direct. Barker and Weitzman both worked on Family Guy and co-created its knockoff, American Dad!, and one certainly hopes their brand of irreverent humor carried over into the script. I wonder if they know they'll be working with humans.
