Creepy Video Blog for 'I Know Who Killed Me'
Filed under: Horror », Mystery & Suspense », Home Entertainment », Movie Marketing »
Question: Why do all the movie serial killers have to speak in this creepy, distorted whisper? Oh, and why do they laugh after every third word? What's so funny? I don't get it. And speaking of things that you may or may not get, a new video blog has surfaced for that Lindsay Lohan flick I Know Who Killed Me. It kind of has this rough, thrown-together-to-look-amateurish look, and viewers can scroll through a number of weird little videos in which our killer videotapes his work area, missing girl posters and a press conference with the local police -- all while narrating; spewing out bizarre quotes that don't seem to make any sense whatsoever. And above the little video player, he writes: "She's different. Alike in sameness, most don't understand what it takes to unite with their inner sensations. Meet an exception."
As of now, you can only watch five films. However, there are still 15 films that haven't been unlocked yet; based on what they tell us, it appears one (or two) will open up each week. In the pic, La Lohan plays a stripper who is kidnapped, raped, tortured -- the whole nine. But after she's rescued -- holed up in a hospital without any legs, or so I hear -- she claims to be someone else, and that the real girl they're looking for is still missing. Is the poor gal suffering from post-traumatic stress, or is there something a bit more sinister at play here? Although it's a horror flick, this is an important role for Lohan's career -- people want to see if she has what it takes to really lay it all out there. And while I never thought I'd say this, there's a part of me that's seriously looking forward to watching Lohan in this film. Directed by Chris Sivertson, I Know Who Killed Me arrives in theaters on July 27. (Oh, and keep an eye on that video blog; do let us know if something funky happens.)
Sundance Interview: Thin
Filed under: Documentary », Sundance », Podcasts », Interviews »

With the Awards Ceremony coming up fast and furious tomorrow night, Lauren Greenfield's Thin seems like a shoo-in to pick up a prize. Word on the street regarding the harrowing eating disorder doc is resoundingly positive, and our own James Rocchi called Thin "an amazing portrait of strength, of compassion, of community, of love." Rocchi sat down with Greenfield this week to discuss the challenges inherent in making a film about such a difficult subject. You can download the interview here, or from the Cinematical podcast feed at the iTunes Music Store.

Sundance Vblog - got a storefront we can commandeer?
Filed under: Site Announcements », Sundance »

In about three weeks, I'm going to pack a couple of bloggers in my suitcase and head on out to Utah to infiltrate the Sundance Film Festival. We're working on putting together a nightly roundtable – to be hosted by Weblogs, Inc CEO Jason Calacanis and featuring a host of special film-world guests – which we'll videotape and throw up on the web in easily digestible (and downloadable) episodes. We've got a video producer, and we've got the talent – we just need a location.
Do you have a space we could use? An office? A storefront? A classroom? A really big truck? In exchange for a couple of hours use per afternoon, we could offer you mad promotion on the vblog itself, which will available for download here on Cinematical, on iTunes and at AOL Movies. Let's say you work for a company called ... Company X. Company X presents The Cinematical Sundance Vidcast. That's got a nice ring to it, now doesn't it?
As far as location goes, we're not exactly picky - we need to have power, and we need room for about 5 speakers (as in, humans, speaking), a couple of cameras and a 2-person crew. If you've got a stage or room for an audience, all the better, but neither is essential.
C'mon - help a blogger out. Contact us here, and we'll go from there.
And thanks!
