Buy This: Real Harry Potter Wands

Filed under: Fandom », Harry Potter », Summer Movies »

With Halloween practically right around the corner, there are probably many of you who are looking to put together that perfect Harry Potter costume. Perhaps you just want a magical gift for yourself or for a diehard Potter fan in your life. Either way, you can't go wrong with an authentic Harry Potter wand from Whirlwood.

There are a lot of replica wands floating around (Noble Collection being the foremost among them) but this is as close as you'll get to shopping at Ollivander's. Not only are they actually handmade of wood as opposed to resin, but they're also filled with unicorn hair, phoenix feathers, tarantula legs, crystals, and all the other totems that power up a wizard or witch's wand. If you're lucky enough to meet the Whirlwood gang in person, you can give the entire line a swish and flick. Otherwise, you'll have to visit the website where you can find wands replicating those found in the movies (Hermione's is absolutely lovely) or copying the description found in the books. You diehard fans will know the difference. Oh, and speaking of diehard fans -- you lovers of Robert Pattinson will find a Cedric Diggory design made just for you.

Harry Potter Update: Pics of Young Voldemort, Looking Cute and Mostly Harmless

Filed under: Casting », Fandom », Movie Marketing », Harry Potter », Images »

This morning I got an email from Snitchseeker.com, a Harry Potter fansite, pointing me to some pics they have up of young Hero Fiennes-Tiffin (nephew of Ralph Fiennes, who plays the evil Voldemort in the Harry Potter franchise). Fiennes-Tiffin is playing Young Tom Riddle (aka the Future Dark Lord, Voldemort) in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Nice call on the part of the casting director to have a relative of Fiennes play the younger character.

You can see all the pics over on Snitchseeker; they're apparently from another film the young actor is in, Bigga than Ben. Fiennes-Tiffin looks oh-so-sweet-and-innocent -- he hardly looks like the sort who'd grow up to wreak havoc on the wizarding world, tossing around Imperius curses at his enemies and plotting to rid the world of good guys like Albus Dumbledore and Harry Potter. But then again, it's always the innocent looking ones who sneak up on you and turn out to be evil dark lords trying to take over the world, isn't it?

Harry Potter Villains: The Best of the Worst

Filed under: Action », Sci-Fi & Fantasy », Warner Brothers », Family Films », Harry Potter », Comic/Superhero/Geek », Remakes and Sequels », Best/Worst », Hold the 'Fone », Summer Movies »

Harry Potter villainsFew villains in movie history have inspired as much ire, as much fear and as much nausea as the man known alternately as You Know Who, He Who Must Not Be Named, the Dark Lord, Tom Marvolo Riddle and -- last but not least -- Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes). The Harry Potter archvillain has the bald head and winning personality of Darth Vader, the crusty face of a leper, the thin forked nostrils and flat nose of a serpent, and the dental hygeine of an Englishman circa 1800. In summary, he is one ugly mother, inside and out.

In honor of Voldemort's vile return to the big screen in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Moviefone has ranked the best of the worst Harry Potter villains, beginning with the dubiously diabolical and powering straight on through to the most wretched, foul-smelling, remorseless, compassionless fiends in Hogwarts history.

Check out Moviefone's Harry Potter Villains: The Best of the Worst gallery, then tell us who you think are the most odious evildoers in the Potter-verse. Did we miss any on our list? Did we include any that shouldn't be on there? And, lastly, do you think Voldemort would ever consider rhinoplasty?

Harry Potter Spoilers from Ralph Fiennes

Ralph Fiennes, currently shilling to be what looks so far to be the most overrated film of the year, dropped a sort-of spoiler on his role in the next Harry Potter film whilst talking to CBS News. Close thine eyes if such things make you pissy. "It's just one big scene at the end of the movie," Fiennes says. "Lord Voldemort appears for the first time, in something of a kin to human form, I can't give too much away but I had a great time filming it. I'm very, very mean to Harry Potter, very mean." And I'm sure the little wand-waver deserves it.
