That "walking spermatoza" movie isn't the only one on the docket for the duo behind Blades of Glory -- Josh Gordon and Will Speck. While nothing can really compare to that other premise, this next flick could be promising as well. Variety reports that they've signed on to direct Paramount Pictures' new comedy called I Want to ____ Your Sister. Lovely, eh? In this cinematic mad lib, which was written by Melissa Stack, a brother gets over protective lil' sibling.

MTV Films had grabbed the spec back in March, for $300,000 against $600,000, and as the story goes, it's a coming-of-age comedy about an older bro who wants to protect his younger sister from lascivious guys just like him. It sort of reminds me of She's Out of Control, but with a brother instead of a father.

Since this is comedy teen fare, I wouldn't be surprised if we see Jonah Hill or Michael Cera in there, although they could also go the route of the hot older brother who does funny things, but isn't necessarily funny himself. I'm hoping that they get some people in there with comedy chops, but we'll have to wait and see. Since Baster is still in the works, this might take a while.

Tomasina is forty years old, she's unmarried, and she wants a kid. She was pregnant once, years ago, but she had an abortion. Now, she doesn't want a man, she just wants a little bundle of cuteness that she can call her own -- someone to spend their life with her. Once she makes this decision, she sees men as "walking spermatoza," and schemes to inseminate herself with the sperm of a married friend. As do we all. Anyhow, this is the plot of Baster, the latest story to get a feature adaptation.

Variety is reporting that Josh Gordon and Will Speck, the pair behind Blades of Glory, are in final negotiations to direct the film, which is based on the short story by Jeffrey Eugenides (The Virgin Suicides). Allan Loeb (Made of Honor) penned the screenplay, and Albert Berger and Ron Yerxa, of Little Miss Sunshine fame, are producing the feature. Speck says: "We were so attracted to this project because of Allen's script. Because he works in every genre -- comedy, drama -- he really understands character arcs." Does this mean we will be getting both a funny and serious look at semen and turkey basters? While I'd pay to see that, I'm thinking this'll be more on the Blades of Glory level of cinema. How about you? Are you up for a rousing flick of baby madness and sperm basting?

Oh, for the love of God. Perhaps the best part of the new Blades of Glory trailer occurs when Will Ferrell turns to Jon Heder and says, "I see you still look like a 15 year-old girl, but not hot." Because it's so true! Apart from that, picture The Cutting Edge, except with two men and a host of bad physical comedy ... and really bad gay jokes.

Yes, Will Ferrell and Jon Heder (in what has to be one of his last roles as leading man -- when will Hollywood wake up and realize the Heder phenomena was up a long time ago?) star as two male figure skaters who are banned from the sport after they get into a fight at the Olympics. They soon discover that the only way back onto the ice is if these two bitter rivals join together to form the fiercest pair of male figure skaters ever. Part of me can't decide whether the film would be funnier without Jon Heder, or if nothing (apart from its disappearance off the planet) could help this ticking time-bomb. But, if you're a sucker for stupid, sports-related Ferrell shtick, then I suppose Blades of Glory might be right up your alley.

It took four writers (two of which penned episodes of King of the Hill) to finally churn this sucker out, and it's directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck. (Don't worry, I don't know who they are either. Apparently, this is either their first or second feature film.) I'm sure the pic will wind up with a small fanbase -- a few of the scenes have the potential to be almost funny -- but when a trailer for a comedy makes you want to cry, that can't be a good sign of things to come. Blades of Glory skates its way into theaters on March 30.
